Christian Education in Queensland

Christian Faith and Ethos

The PMSA schools have a valued tradition of educating students in a Christian learning environment. Students from all backgrounds are welcome at our schools and all participate in Christian education.

As a key priority within our 20-Year Strategic Vision we continue to preserve Christian faith at the core of education, while also embracing people with diverse beliefs and empowering our young people to lead for impact. This includes four key areas of focus:

  1. Affirm the unique place of Christian Faith whilst embracing people with diverse cultural beliefs.
  2. Preserve the significance of Christian Education as a fundamental element of shaping student potential.
  3. Infuse Christian Ethos into every aspect of the educational journey.
  4. Demonstrate unparalleled leadership in transforming faith into action by dedicated programs of support and service to communities.

Our goal for Christian ministry is to enable all students to discover how a relationship with God can enable their lives to flourish as this relationship informs their spirituality, ethical decision making, service, approach to justice and their contribution to the transformation of communities of which they are a part. Through a process of Christian formation, students are able to grow in character, life purpose and the use of their God given gifts.

Students are encouraged to clarify and deepen their understanding of reasons for belief in the Christian faith. They are encouraged to develop an understanding of the wisdom of the Christian foundation as they explore the life application of the good news of Jesus.

As a co-curricular activity, our schools offer Interschool Christian Fellowship (ISCF) and other voluntary Christian groups giving students the opportunity to participate in regular meetings, services, camps and workshops to develop students’ Christian faith.

As part of our Christian ethos, the PMSA Christian Mission, Service and Training Assistance Program offers financial assistance to successful applicants who would like to undertake involvement in a recognised Christian Mission, Service or Training Program. The purpose of this assistance program is to provide an opportunity for current PMSA Years 10, 11 and 12 students to serve God and grow in their Christian faith through engagement in a Christian Mission, Service or Training initiative.
