About Orange Sky
In 2014, two best mates had a crazy idea to put two washing machines and two dryers into the back of a van to wash and dry clothes for free and founded Orange Sky – a world-first, free mobile laundry and shower service for people experiencing homelessness.
Now 8 years on Orange Sky has provided more than 1,543,000 kg of free laundry. Orange Sky under the leadership of Nic and Lucas continue to strive everyday to find ways to positively connect communities and make an impact.
Youth Leaders’ Forum by Orange Sky
Nic and Lucas shared their remarkable leadership journey and how they brought their idea of providing a free laundry service for people experiencing homelessness to fruition through hard work, dedication and just ‘giving it a go’.
It was an inspirational conversation which encouraged our Year 11 emerging leaders to consider the possibilities of how they too could make a difference and help shape a better future for everyone.
About the Youth Leaders’ Forum
The Youth Leaders’ Forum is designed to inspire and challenge our next generation of leaders with an opportunity to contemplate life, leadership and important social issues that impact the future of our nation and our world.
The forum is an annual event that promotes thought and debate among our emerging leaders as they come together and listen to the views of a remarkable leader as they share their inspirational leadership journeys.
A strategic initiative of the PMSA to foster academic excellence and innovation in our students, the forum is open to all Year 11 students and forms part their educational journey at a PMSA school.

The inaugural lecture, formerly known as the Australian Leadership Lecture, was presented by Australian Indigenous Leader Noel Pearson from the Guugu Yimidhirr community of Hope Vale on south eastern Cape York Peninsula.
Mr Pearson’s lecture provoked a broader conversation around Australia’s national identity and spoke in a future context as if it was 2041, describing what our 2021 Year 12 students have achieved in the first 20 years since they finished secondary school.
Throughout the lecture, Noel challenged the students to think about what it means to be Australian and what our future identity could be.
