PMSA Board Chair announcement

The PMSA Board today announced that its Board Deputy Chair Margaret Berry will succeed current Board Chair Peter Barker when his term expires in June this year.

Ms Berry has more than 30 years’ experience in teaching and is currently the Principal at Robertson State School. She has held numerous leadership positions in the education sector and has been a member of the PMSA Board since 2018 and Deputy Chair since 2021.

In addition, current Board member Diane Bukowski will succeed Ms Berry’s role as Deputy Chair.

Mr Barker said that both Ms Berry and Ms Bukowski are passionate about the education of young people and bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their respective roles on the Board.

“Margaret is an outstanding leader who combines a wealth of current education leadership experience with a deep understanding of the PMSA. She is a valued Board member and Deputy Chair and will make an excellent Chair,” he said.

Following the announcement, Mr Barker thanked his fellow board members, committee members, and acknowledged the PMSA’s executive teams and staff for their ongoing support during his tenure as Chair.

“Working together we have continued to implement key initiatives and governance reforms that have allowed the PMSA to mature as a more contemporary and effective organisation

“It has truly been an honour to serve as Chair of the PMSA and share in so many outstanding achievements at each of our schools. I have always been humbled by the dedication and commitment of our wonderful school leaders, staff and communities who go above and beyond for their students,” Mr Barker said.

Chair-elect Ms Berry thanked Mr Barker for his service as Board Chair and for creating a strong foundation that will enable the PMSA to advance confidently into the future.

“As incoming Chair, I will continue the journey of governance reforms and focus on the development of a new strategic vision to see the PMSA schools flourish and excel in the delivery of a world class education,” Ms Berry said.

Ms Berry and Ms Bukowski will commence their new roles on the Board from the PMSA Annual General Meeting to be held in June 2023.
