Approved for National Redress Scheme

After more than a year of working through the approval process, the PMSA and our schools were this month approved to participate in the National Redress Scheme.

Those who have experienced abuse can now seek redress through the National Redress Scheme.

The Scheme was created in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and will run until July 2028.

The Scheme is an acknowledgement by the Australian Government and participating institutions that sexual abuse suffered by children in institutional settings was wrong, a betrayal of trust, and should never have happened.

The Scheme helps people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse gain access to counselling, a direct personal response, and a monetary payment.

We understand some people who have experienced abuse may not wish to deal directly with the school and have established a Redress Office and coordinator in the PMSA Group Office to respond to enquiries, assist with disclosures or direct claims and facilitate the delivery of redress matters.

The Redress Office Coordinator can be reached directly on 0437 281 505 or via email redress@pmsa-schools.edu.au.

For more information, visit the PMSA’s Child Safeguarding and Wellbeing page, visit www.nationalredress.gov.au, or call the National Redress Scheme line on 1800 737 377 (Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm).
