The PMSA Board has appointed leadership consultant Ken Watson and company director Chris Wright as new members of the Sunshine Coast Grammar School Council.
Retired Air Force Air Vice Marshal and current parent at Sunshine Coast Grammar School Ken Watson looks forward to lending his experience and expertise to the School Council.
Ken is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and his 36-year career experience has prepared him well for committee work, policy development, public advocacy, risk management, strategic development, personnel management/leadership.
“I am very familiar with the need for and practice of corporate governance and I look forward to contributing to the work of the PMSA in governing and advocating Christian education,” Mr Watson said.
Chris Wright is an entrepreneur, investor and mentor and experienced company director with director experience in commercial and not-for-profit organisations.
Chris is a past parent of Brisbane Boys’ College and has a daughter at Somerville House and is a strong supporter of the Christian ethos that PMSA schools provide.
“I have a personal interest in education, particularly around changes driven by digital information technology advances. I look forward to bringing my expertise in board governance and compliance; my passion for values-based, for-purpose business strategy development and team building; and diverse skills in enterprise information technology to the role,” Mr Wright said.
PMSA Chairman Greg Adsett said both Ken and Chris are an asset to our Group and their calibre is reflective of the improvements we are making to our governance structure.
“We have implemented many changes to the PMSA structure which more clearly defines roles, responsibilities and reporting arrangements for the PMSA Board, the School Councils and Committees,” said Mr Adsett.
The PMSA is governed by a Board and each school is governed by a School Council which is a committee of the PMSA Board.
Each School Council comprises up to two PMSA Board members, up to six independent School Council members appointed from the community and the school’s Principal as a non-voting member.
The PMSA Board delegates the responsibility for administration and performance of each school to the School Councils. Each school Principal reports to their School Councils and has operational responsibility for their school.
