Somerville House Scholar’s Assembly

The Somerville House community gathered on Monday 6 February to acknowledge students from the Class of 2016 for their outstanding individual and collective academic efforts and to celebrate their excellent results at a special Scholars’ Assembly, attended by our top achievers.

Over 44% of our students attained an OP 1 to 5, with over 95% attaining an OP 1 to 15. Impressively, over 73% of our OP-eligible students achieved an A or B on the QCS Test, with 36% achieving an A, well above the State’s overall performance at 17.5%.

In addition, almost 100% of the Year 12 cohort who applied through QTAC for a Tertiary placement have received an offer.

These results are the outcome of strong academic commitment, fine scholarship and successful working partnerships with the School’s exceptional teaching staff.

We congratulate Dux of the School 2016, Sophie Watson, who has been acknowledged as one of the top 30 students in the State by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority, and will be presented with her Award at a presentation ceremony on 18 February.
