Grammar dives into world class Aquatic Centre construction

The Sunshine Coast Grammar School community has started the school year buzzing with excitement with construction well underway for the Grammar Aquatic Centre.

The project will deliver a world class, 10 lane, 50 metre FINA certified heated swimming pool as well as an enclosed 15 metre Learn to Swim pool.

The new facility includes a 700 seat undercover grandstand, gymnasium, tennis centre, classrooms, change rooms and a kiosk.

Completion is planned for late 2017 and with the opening of the facility, the Grammar Aquatic Centre will be an outstanding facility for the Sunshine Coast region with a broad range of uses.

“This is the largest capital project in the history of the school to date and I am thrilled to see this project come to life. We are situated on 100 acres which provides us the opportunity to continue to grow for the future. The Aquatic Centre will enable substantial sporting and educational opportunities for the Grammar community and the Sunshine Coast region,” said Principal Mrs Maria Woods.

A great partnership has been established with KHA Project Management who are managing the project. Parameters are in place to ensure the safety of students, families, staff, visitors and the wider community to mitigate disruption to school activities. Opportunities are also being explored for students with an interest in engineering and construction to gain first-hand knowledge from this project.

“Our school community is truly excited to see the changes and I am delighted to share this milestone with them.”

KHA Project Management is managing the project with Evans Built, a local construction company who have delivered a number of projects throughout Queensland including; Pulse Oceanside Medical at Kawana, and New Leaf Early Learning Centre at Alexandra Headlands.
