Congratulations to Year 10 student, Charlotte Solomon, for her winning entry into the 2017 ANZAC Premier’s Prize.
Her thoughtful documentary links the spirit demonstrated by all Australians in World War I to the sacrifices of the men and women who serve in the contemporary Australian military and to examples of mateship and selflessness on the part of ordinary Australians.
Charlotte argues that the ANZAC ideal provides a “clear conduit between the past and the present” and a legacy for all Australians “past, present and future”. Charlotte will travel to Gallipoli and the Western Front in April 2017; attending the Dawn Service at Anzac Cove on 25 April.
We commend her for her efforts and wish her a wonderful trip as she represents the school and the Queensland Government overseas.
